This is an archive of the official website for the IUCrXVIII Congress at Glasgow in 1999. Some images and text may be missing and some links no longer work.

Please bring your Confirmation of Registration with you as you will be registered numerically. This document will be required to gain access to the SECC. Your conference documents and delegate bag will be available at the Registration Desks located in the Exhibition Hall. Each registered delegate and accompanying person will receive a Congress badge. Badges must be worn by all persons at the SECC.

Workshops

From 10.00 - 16.00hrs there are a number of workshops running at the SECC.

Opening Ceremony

The XVIIIth IUCr Opening Ceremony will take place in the Clyde Auditorium at the SECC. It will begin with welcome remarks and the presentation of the Ewald Award and Lecture, and will be complemented with traditional Scottish entertainment provided by fiddlers and one of Scotland's championship pipe bands.

17:45 - 17:58hrs	2 pipers welcome delegates into auditorium
17:58 - 18:00hrs	VIPs piped onto stage.
18:00 - 18:20hrs	Welcome speeches.
18:20 - 18:25hrs	Award of Ewald Medal to Professor G.N.Ramachandran.
18.25 - 18:55hrs	Acceptance and Lecture by Professor Vijayan.
18:55 - 19:40hrs	Entertainment: Singers, Clarsach player, Pipes, drums and brass of the Band of the 31st, dancers, slides of Scotland.
19:45 - 19:50hrs	Lord Provost's Welcome. Band marches delegates to reception.
19:50 - 20:45hrs	Reception
20:45hrs	Band march past
21:00hrs	Coaches to hotels.
